Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my boiler needs to be replaced or just repaired?

Age is the biggest factor. Most boilers last 15–25 years with proper maintenance. If yours is approaching that range and having repeated issues, replacement is usually the smarter investment. If it’s relatively young and the problem is isolated — a bad circulator, a leaking zone valve — a repair is typically the right call. We’ll give you a straight answer.

Why are some of my rooms not heating evenly?

Uneven heat is usually a zone valve issue, air trapped in the lines, or a circulator pump that’s underperforming. It can also be a simple balancing issue with the baseboard or radiator valves. All of these are diagnosable and fixable without replacing the whole system.

How often should a boiler be serviced?

Once a year, ideally before heating season. A tune-up includes checking the burner, heat exchanger, flue, pressure, and safety controls. It extends the life of the system and catches small problems before they become expensive ones.

Do you work on both gas and oil boilers?

We primarily service gas-fired boilers. If you have an oil system, give us a call and we’ll let you know if it’s something we can help with.

Should I go tankless?

It’s worth considering. Tankless boilers and combination (combi) boilers are becoming increasingly popular — and for good reason. A combi boiler handles both your space heating and your domestic hot water in a single unit, eliminating the need for a separate water heater entirely. That means less equipment, less space, and one less thing to maintain. Tankless boilers operate on the same on-demand principle as tankless water heaters — they fire only when heat is called for, which translates to lower energy bills. If you’re replacing an aging boiler or water heater, it’s a great time to explore whether a tankless or combi setup makes sense for your home.
