Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I have a gas leak?

The most obvious sign is the smell of sulfur or rotten eggs — gas companies add this odor specifically so leaks are detectable. Other signs include a hissing sound near a gas line, dead vegetation above an underground line, or a pilot light that keeps going out. If you suspect a leak, leave the house and call your gas company first, then call us.

Do you need a permit for gas line work?

For new installations and extensions, yes — a permit is required in most municipalities in New Jersey. We handle the permit process and schedule inspections. Don’t hire anyone who says permits aren’t necessary for gas work.

What is Gastite/Tracpipe and why does it matter?

Gastite and Tracpipe are flexible corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) systems used for gas distribution inside homes. They’re faster to install than traditional black iron pipe and highly reliable when installed correctly. We’re certified installers — which matters for both safety and your homeowner’s insurance.

Can you run a gas line to my outdoor kitchen, generator, or fire pit?

Yes — this is one of the most common requests we get. We’ll assess the run, pull the permit, and install it to code.
